School Community Invited!

You're invited to an interactive art installation at the Monterey Museum of Art featuring a series of mesmerizing trees created by local artists who are cultivating connection and introspection through their art within our community.

Our very own Digital Art, Visual Art, and AMP Academy students from Mrs. Hartfelt's, Ms. Tonkin's, and Ms. McMercury's class helped kick off the event by adding their wishes and origami art to one of the exhibitions called "Spirit Trees" with local artist Edi Matsumoto.

The Spirit Trees exhibition is based on two Japanese traditions: Bamboo Wishing Trees and Obon Memorial Lanterns. The purpose is to bring the community together to reflect on and share wishes for their future and/or memories of their deceased loved ones and ancestors.

Opening night is tonight from 5pm - 8pm and tomorrow is Family Fun Day from 11am - 3pm! FREE admission!

You are welcome to add your own wishes to the trees at the event (there will be origami papers) and/or bring a 3" x 3" photocopy of a deceased loved one or pet with a written comment on the back to add to the Obon Memorial Lanterns.

Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
